Victoria Park in 2024 - Nearly Missed
It
w/e 03 November 2024
All of this week's pictures were
taken with a Nikon D3300

At the beginning of last month we were between seasons
but things have changed significantly in recent days. So much
so in fact, that I was starting to think that by the time of
this November visit, the best of autumn would have passed and
we would have missed it altogether. Fortunately that was not
the case but I do think if we had left it another week, the trees
would have been almost bare.

As it was, there were almost as many leaves on the ground as
remaining on the trees as we approached the park from Manners
Road. You can just make out the edge of the pavement.
|

And there's a path into the park there somewhere.
|

The ground along the Drummond Road side of the park is also covered
with fallen leaves.
|

There's still a contrast between the leaves and the green grass
in the centre of the park.
|

Even the hedges are contributing towards the autumnal scenes
though.
|

And the view over the Long Border of the trees on the Bristol
Road side also makes for a colourful autumn scene.
|

Earlier in the year the circular beds at each end of the central
area were awash with large white blooms. Now they have adopted
a brown hue complimenting the orange leaves above.
|

The sapling and another large tree on the Bristol Road side of
the park are devoid of leaves but others are in various stages
of change.
|

The exit to the Manners Road/Bristol Road gates has many evergreens
but even here the path is covered with fallen leaves.
|

And the mention of fallen leaves as we left the park brought
to mind a song released in 1960 by Mark Wynter.
"Kicking Up The Leaves" - Give it a listen on YouTube, it's only two minutes long.
