Ilkeston - Stanton Road Cemetery
w/e 02 March 2025
All of this week's pictures were taken with a Nikon D3300
Yes, we've been here before.
Yes, I've taken photos here before. And yes, it's more than likely
we'll visit again but when the sun is shining and there's the
promise of spring flowers, it would be a shame to miss it.

From Stanton Road, the ground level is almost at eye level too
and from here the green shoots of daffodils act as an introduction
to the colours of crocuses beyond.
|

From just inside the cemetery, those crocus colours are even
more apparent.
|

On the left hand side those crocuses are between the central
path in the cemetery and the side/rear view of The Pines Day
Nursery formerly the home many years ago of the Pines Youth Club.
|

To the right and looking back towards Stanton Road, it's snowdrops
between the headstones that are currently flowering.
|

About halfway down the path, more daffodils will soon be opening
to welcome not only the meteorological spring (March 1st) but
also the astronomical spring at the vernal equinox which this
year falls on March 20th.
|

It's from this mid point of the cemetery though that the full
array of crocuses comes into view between the trees.
|

And closer still the carpet of flowers spreads out to the far
end of the cemetery.
|

It would be impossible to walk through the flowers without trampling
some of them down but I made my way to the far end of the cemetery
by skirting round the edge.
|

If crocuses had arms, they would have been spread out wide to
soak up the sun's warming rays but as it was the petals of some
of them were open wide.
|

The Ilson Giant still stands at the side of the cemetery but
his gaze was fixed elsewhere. He was missing a treat.
