Ilkeston - An Autumn Walk
w/e 27 October 2024
All of this week's pictures were
taken with a Nikon D3300
Autumn is upon us and the leaves are turning and
falling to the ground. There's not much more to be said really
but here are the images from a short walk of just under a mile
and a half from and to the Market Place.

A colourful tree leaning over the fence on the corner of West
End Drive.

The tree-lined West End Drive.

A view across the recreation ground on the Rutland Sports Park
(commonly known as The Rec.).

The track on the Lower Rec. running between West End Drive on
the right and the lower part of The Rec.
|
Pewit Golf Course is currently undergoing a consultation to turn
it into a Nature Reserve.
|
The Manners Link footpath between West End Drive and Manners
Avenue.
|
It's hard to believe now that the Manners Link footpath was once
a railway line with engines regularly running along it.
|
A clearing at the side of the path is covered with fallen leaves.
|
There are several access points to the Manners Link and this
path took us back to civilisation, Gayton Road and onwards to
return to the Market Place. With Ilkeston being mainly elongated
on a roughly north-south axis, open countryside is within a few
minutes walk on both sides from the town centre. Long may it
continue to be like that.
