Ilkeston - Going For Gold
w/e 25 June 2023
All of this week's pictures were taken with a Nikon D3300
The "Britain In Bloom"
judges will be around soon and Ilkeston should be in with another
good chance of going for gold again if the current displays in
Victoria Park are still in fine fettle when they arrive.

The flower bed at the Manners Road/Bristol Road gates offers
a bright welcome.
|

It's another colourful display near the entrance to the bowling
green too.
|

The central beds always look good when they've received their
summer bedding plants.
|

The long border facing the central beds are coming into full
bloom and provide an interesting alternative to the formal beds
opposite.
|

From the benches along the long border the view across the central
display is enhanced by the trees and hedges at the foot of the
back opposite.
|

The carpet bedding display celebrates the recent coronation of
King Charles III.
|

Geraniums surround the foot of the bandstand.
|

The beds on either side of the new pergola, installed as part
of the Heritage Lottery funded work in the same place as the
previous one, were planted with shrubs, climbers and laburnum
and they are now becoming a feature in their own right.
|

At the exit onto Drummond Road, flowering wild roses lead the
eye to the beds of geraniums on the other side of the gates.
|

I finished this walk through the park with a closer look at those
geraniums hoping those "Britain in Bloom" judges arrive
soon to see the park in all its splendour.
