Ilkeston - October Trees
w/e 18 October 2020
All of this week's pictures were
taken with a Kodak DX6490
Pandemic or not the seasons roll on and in mid October
the trees are showing the signs of autumn with the leaves turning
colour and falling to the ground. Wherever you go in town the
change can be seen but these images are mainly from the two parks
near the town centre.
Heading towards Chaucer Old Park and seen here from Park Crescent
is the entrance to Park Cemetery.
|
On the park itself the ground is already covered with fallen
leaves but there are still plenty more to come down from the
trees along Cantelupe Road.
|
Also on the Chaucer Old Park - this part is known locally as
'Illy 'Oleys - the trees near the play area, seen here on the
left of the picture, are showing pink and red colours rather
than the gold and yellows elsewhere.
|
Chaucer Old Park extends much further than 'Illy 'Oleys and the
line of trees along the fence at Chaucer Junior School are showing
a variety of colours.
|
There's a similar display of colours near the Erewash Museum.
|
One obvious place to look for and appreciate the autumn is the
other park near the town centre, Victoria Park.
|
Still a lot of green in the park but there's a splash of pink
on the edge of Manners Road across from the Leisure Centre.
|
The trees along the rest of Manners Road behind the play area
have a range of colours in the brown and yellow region of the
spectrum.
|
The same range of colours is also visible in the central area
of the park around the bandstand.
|
And on the Bristol Road side of the park one particular tree
seems a lot closer to winter than most of the others and the
skeleton is already showing through the falling leaves.
