Local Area - The Year So Far
w/e 18 February 2018
All of this week's pictures were
taken with a Kodak DX6490
A review of the year thus far wasn't something I'd
planned but the dreaded winter sickness bug has laid me and the
wife low since Thursday and I have been unable to take advantage
of the fine weather at the end of the week. So as I only had
a few shots from the beginning of the week, that forced my hand
so here are a few more shots from places we have been to during
January and February.

The entrance to the Walled Garden in Bramcote Hills Park.

Contrasting architecture in Derby's Market Place.
|

This dark and dismal view of Ilkeston's Market Place was taken
shortly before midday on Sunday January 21st but the snow was
soon gone.
|

A side view of Wollaton Hall.
|

The Stable Block at Wollaton - and I wasn't the only one taking
photos.
|

Waterlogged field seen from the towpath of the disused Nottingham
Canal between Trowell and Cossall.
|

Nottingham Lodge in Shipley Country Park.
|

The Ha-Ha wall on the top of Shipley Hill.
|

This is one I did take on Monday of this week (as a possible
jigsaw picture) at Green's Lock on a short walk along the
Erewash Canal.
|

And this is another from this
week on a bitterly cold, wet and windy Ash Wednesday morning
on the Market Place where the BBC were recording the Ashes-To-Go
event for broadcast in their news programmes later in the day.
To mark the start of Lent passers-by were offered a prayer and
ashing by clergy and lay from local churches and although we
did have our five seconds of fame on the TV we now think getting
frozen through might have had something to do with our subsequent
malady which meant we also missed last night's Chinese New Year
event on the Market Place. Ah well, there's always another year.
