Shipley Country Park - Snowdrops & Squirrels
w/e 19 February 2017
All of this week's pictures were
taken with a Kodak DX6490
We went to several locations this week including
the Nottingham Canal at Cossall and St Chad's Water at Church
Wilne but it was back to the old favourite Shipley Country Park
for this selection of images of squirrels and snowdrops.

All of the images are near the top of Shipley Hill and this one
shows the bank opposite the building called "The Gardens"
where the fallen leaves were interspersed with clumps of snowdrops.
|

At the bottom of the bank a squirrel plunged headfirst down a
tree and disappeared in the leaves.
|

A little further along Shipley Lane the bank rises up to the
top of the hill and here the green shoots of daffodils yet to
flower provided accompaniment for the snowdrops.
|

We climbed the hill into the wood on Shipley Hill and stopped
several times to survey the carpet of snowdrops.
|

We made our way through the wood towards the site of the Hall
passing the water tower that is been converted to a private residence
on the way.
|

Another squirrel (among several others) was scampering about
in the leaves.
|

After passing through the site of the former Hall we picked up
the old Coach Road and more snowdrops.
|

The Coach Road passes the bank called Beggars Walk which once
again was covered with snowdrops.
|

A close up shot of some of the snowdrops on Beggars Walk.
|

The road drops down the hill again to pass Derby Lodge where
the Tea Rooms were doing a good trade during the school half
term holiday. The garden at the Lodge was also full of snowdrops.
It won't be long before the white of the snowdrops on Shipley
Hill will be replaced by the yellow of daffodils and blue of
bluebells. Spring is on the way.
