Thursday 11th November - Armistice
Day

Market traders and shoppers alike paused in their daily
routines for two minutes at 11am on Thursday to pay their respects
to all those who have given their lives in conflicts past and
present.

Civic dignitaries, veterans, members of the Royal British Legion
and the general public assembled around the Cenotaph in the Market
Place.

A short service was led by the Rev. David Fergus of St Mary's
Church.
|

A number of wreaths and crosses were laid around the foot of
the Cenotaph.

14th November - Remembrance Sunday


On Sunday, age was no barrier as young and old paraded together
across the Market Place into St Mary's Church for a Service of
Remembrance.

They were joined once again by the Mayoral Party for the Service
and afterwards for an Act of Remembrance at the Cenotaph when
more wreathes were laid in honour of "Our Glorious Dead".
