Ilkeston Cam on Holiday

Part 10 - More Wallz
w/e 27 September 2026
All of this week's pictures were
taken with a Nikon D3300 camera.
Continuing our look at the Weston Wallz project,
here are a few more photos of some of the street art in Weston
Super Mare.

Several of the works feature the word 'Weston' including the
header that has been at the top of all the parts in this series
from our holiday and the one above, both of which are at the
Locking Road car park. The header is by Cheo from Bristol and
this one above is by Kid Crayon, also from Bristol, in association
with North Somerset Youth Justice and Prevention Service.
|

Another one featuring the word 'Weston' is on the wall of MT
Games facing North Street and this was by the Welsh street artist
Jenks.
|

All of the remaining images below were displayed
side by side on the Sovereign Shopping Centre facing Salisbury
Terrace and we looked at some of them in more detail.
|

This one is by Sprite, a Brighton based street artist who specialises
in animals, nature, and abstract forms and says her mission is
to 'spread happiness through art'.
|

Dave Bain from Bristol made imaginative use of the architecture
with these two characters.
|

Michael Macqueen's contribution to Weston Wallz allowed him to
exploit his 'decorative floral murals to surreal psychedelia'
styles.
|

We have already seen that the artists come from far and wide
to participate in the Weston Wallz project and several of them
are based in Bristol. These two contrasting designs are both
by Bristol based artists although the one on the left is by Anna
Higgie who was actually born in Australia. The right hand panel
is by Melo who favours a cartoon style in her paintings.
|

Another cartoon style contribution to the project is by Jayde
Perkin, another artist based in Bristol, but her illustration
is her interpretation of Weston's sea front complete with the
Grand Pier. I find this one reminiscent of the saucy postcards
that were once a requisite for anyone on holiday to send back
home to the friends and families.
|

The Grand Pier again features in Carla James' painting but also
shows the influence of her time spent in the Caribbean even though
she is now, like several others already mentioned, based in Bristol.
Bristol seems like a hot bed for street artists and their paintings
are all excellent.
|

Although born in Wales and trained
in Bristol, Nick Roberts is now based in Weston and again uses
the town's Grand Pier in this painting. He cites the inspiration
for his work as L S Lowry but only uses five colours and he also
says 'I hope I can bring joy to everyone who experiences it.'
I think he's succeeded don't you?
