Ilkeston Cam on Holiday

Part 09 - Weston Wallz
w/e 20 September 2026
All of this week's pictures were
taken with a Nikon D3300 camera.
In our wanderings around Weston Super Mare we saw
many examples in the town of street art that is now in the 6th
year of a project called Weston Wallz.

The project started in 2021 when the team behind Europes
largest street art festival, Upfest, teamed up with the local
council and Culture Weston. and has been added to each year.
'A Grand-Pier De Resistance' from 2022 was one of the first to
appear in the town centre and overlooks Meadow Street.
|

I'm sure we didn't see all those on display but we did see a
fair few of them. This one in North Street was by EPOD, a London
based street artist.
|

And this one was on the side of Regent Jewellers
in Regent Street.
|

Also off Regent Street is Wellington Place and the lift shaft
of the Sovereign Shopping Centre decorated with cartoon like
characters. At the bottom of the shaft was an impressive painting
of a tiger.
|

This one of a bird carrying a cone full of chips dates from 2022
is by Artist Aspire and can be found on Station Road.
|

This design on Oxford Street was painted on the rear of the building
by Hampshire based artist Curtis Hylton. The other three sides
are also painted.
|

The photo on the left shows two more sides of the Oxford Street
building whilst the one on the right of the dolphin is on a building
at Dolphin Square. This is by a Bristol based artist, Sophie
Long, and again dates from 2022.
|

Now this one is a bit of a mystery and may not even be part of
the official Weston Wallz project. Nonetheless it is an impressive
artwork on a fence at the side of the former Magistrates Court
which is currently standing empty on Walliscote Road.
|

Nearby Lancashire born artist Dale Grinshaw created this image
on the Otium Restaurant in Carlton Street.
|

And next door on the Carlton
Street Car Park, JPS couldn't have added a better caption to
the Weston Wallz project.
