Army Cadets

On Saturday morning Army Cadets gathered outside the Town Hall for a final briefing.
Fund Raising

Later they could be seen at strategic points around the town centre as they sold poppies and collected funds for the Royal British Legion.
War Memorial

The War Memorial in the Market Place had already been decorated in readiness for the Remembrance Sunday service.
Garden of Remembrance

Other services had taken place earlier in the week attended by schoolchildren and wreathes and crosses had been laid at the memorials in Park Cemetery, Stanton Road Cemetery, at Hallam Fields and also here at the Memorial Cross in the Garden of Remembrance off the Market Place.
Parade Start

There was a short service in St Mary's Church on Remembrance Sunday morning and as the congregation processed outside to the War Memorial on the Market Place, uniformed groups and veterans paraded ftom South Street to join the assembled masses there.
Civic Party

The Civic Party that had attended the service in St Mary's had lined up outside the Library to await the arrival of the parade,

Ilkeston Brass

The parade was led into the Market Place via Coronation Street and Market Street by Ilkeston Brass.
Flag Bearers

The flag bearers lined up facing the Civic Party on the other side of the War Memorial.
Remembrance Day Service

The Remembrance Day service was led by Rev. Andrew Baguley who had also conducted the service in church. The Last Post was played and on the stroke of eleven o'clock, a two minute silence was impeccably observed.
Wreath Laying

Poppy wreathes or crosses were laid by the Mayor of Erewash, the Member of Parliament for the Borough, representatives of the uniformed groups and members of the general public before the parade reformed to leave the Market Place and return to its starting place on South Street. Once again the population of Ilkeston had turned out in force to remember the fallen and pay their respects.
