The Monk's Way - To Robinettes
This page added to site on 05 September 2004

After leaving Holly Copse, we rejoin the farm track and then follow a narrow footpath between Turkey Fields Farm and Oldmoor Farm to reach this style near Oldmoor Cottage.
The route now becomes less distinct as after crossing the style we enter some open arable land. With Ilkeston still visible in the distance, the correct procedure is to follow the hedgerow around the edge of the fields keeping the tree in the centre of this picture above ....

.... on the right hand side.

In the second field, the views of Ilkeston are now obscured by the hedges and trees as we take a turn to the right to follow the path - just visible - through the meadow. It is here that it is probably easiest to imagine mediaeval monks in flowing robes leading their beasts of burden laden with stones to add to the path and ease the passage of fellow travellers. Whether or not this is true is still open to debate but it is a pleasant thought to keep in mind on this section of the walk.

Another style leads to an inviting strategically placed seat where we could perhaps pause for a while before continuing to Cossall.

The seat is at a bend in the lane which we are now about to follow. This is Robinettes Lane and although it is not a through road, leads to Robinettes Cottages and some of the farms in the area.
We go the opposite way however and after trudging through the fields which in wet weather can be rather heavy going here, the walking now becomes much easier along the lane into Cossall Village.
