Part 02 - Paignton Seafront
After a morning in the town centre we repaired to the seafront
for a picnic lunch sitting on the sea wall.
We were well aware of the infamous seagulls that swoop down to
steal your food but this one circled us several times but was
otherwise well behaved and it kept a respectful distance away.
|
From our vantage point on the sea wall we had a good view of
Paignton Pier.
|
And after lunch we decided to take in the sea air with a walk
along the pier.
|
Towards the far end of the pier one of the attractions is a mini
golf course.
|
The golf course is set in a themed area based on Jurassic Park
which features models of various dinosaurs.
|
A path winds its way through the golf course but obviously as
the sign says, "Dinosaurs have right of way on paths".
|
At the end of the pier are two dinosaur-sized deck chairs.
|
There is also a good view from the end of the pier along the
coast beyond Torquay and Thatcher Point to two small islands,
Thatcher Rock, the larger of the two, and Ore Stone.
|
Returning along the pier, it becomes obvious that the covered
passage through which we walked on the outward journey, is in
fact a replica of a crashed aeroplane which was included in the
Jurassic Park film franchise.
|
Leaving the pier we walked past more entertainments on the sea
front before, with much of the afternoon left, making our way
to the neighbouring coastal village of Brixham.
