Ilkeston Cam On Holiday
In South West Wales - Part Eleven
Saundersfoot - When
The Tide Goes Out
The
photos on this page were taken on Tuesday evening 16th July
All of the
pictures on this page were taken between 7.45pm and just after
8pm. Judging from the sign on the railings on the harbour wall,
there was still sufficient depth of water in the harbour at 5pm
to enable the fishing boats to dock.
|
A couple of
days earlier we had watched a hive of activity here as these
fishing boats were unloaded and their catch being transferred
to lorries on the harbour wall. Tonight though all was peace
and quiet.
|
The receding
tide had also left all the pleasure craft high and dry.
|
Beyond the
harbour wall, sand, shingle and an occasional rocky outcrop are
exposed twice a day at low tide as the beach stretches down to
the sea.
|
Pebbles of
all shapes and sizes, driftwood, slabs of concrete, an old crumbling
wall, the almost vertical cliff face and a splash of colour from
the wild flowers all add to the different textures visible from
the beach.

Monkstone
Point lies off in a southerly direction and is approximately
midway between Saundersfoot and Tenby but perhaps just a little
closer to Saundersfoot.
