Ilkeston - Decorations
w/e 26 November 2017
All of this week's pictures were
taken with a Kodak DX6490
Ilkeston's Christmas lights are usually switched
on towards the end of November but the date for this year's event
has been fixed for Friday December 1st. That doesn't mean to
say preparations aren't well under way.

The switching on ceremony will also be held in conjunction with
a Dickensian Evening at the Museum and the notice board there
also has details of three Santa Saturdays in December and a Christmas
Fayre too.
|

Decorations have gone up high on the Town Hall this last week
and around the balcony where I expect Father Christmas will put
in an appearance on Friday if past events are anything to go
by.
|

Lights and decorations have been strung across all of the town
centre streets - these are where South Street meets the Market
Place.
|

There are more across the end of East Street and the Bank isn't
really falling over. It just appears that way as you look up
to the stars!
|

Stars also feature in the decorations across Bath Street along
with strings of coloured lights.
|

There are more decorations to be seen in many a shop window although
the Nativity Scene in The Lighthouse Shop is not for sale and
is there purely for decoration.
|

The official town centre lights may not be switched on yet but
the privately owned Albion Centre has jumped the gun and the
precinct has been illuminated by twinkling lights for a little
while now.
|

The shops in the precinct are also on the ball with their Christmas
decorations and this is just one of several windows at the B
& M store with festive figures. Do you think the "Ho
Ho Ho" means they hope to be laughing all the way to the
bank?
|

Across from that particular window a Christmas tree with twinkling
fairy lights has been erected outside the Costa Coffee shop.
|

The town's main tree though on the Market Place was only put
in place this last week and still awaits the official switch
on event on Friday.
