Ilkeston - Christmas
Lights
w/e 24 November
2002

Ilkeston Brass were on hand
to play Christmas Carols and other festive songs when the seasonal
lights were switched on in the Market Place.
|

Local shops stayed open late
but most of the assembled crowd were more interested in the lights
strung across the road. After all it is nearly a year since they
last saw them!
|
A familiar figure was handing
out early gifts of sweets and chocolate bars.
|
At the "Victorian"
market these ladies were raising funds for the Guide Dogs for
the Blind.
|
Hot chestnuts helped keep out
the cold.
|

Three Snowmen provided by the
Faceless
Company mingled with the crowd, estimated
at about 8000, and added to the entertainment that also included
fairground rides and a Punch and Judy Show.
