There was a demonstration on Ilkeston Market Place
on Saturday - that's a demonstration, not a protest meeting.
In fact there were a number of demonstrations as part of
Derbyshire Fire Service's programme to educate and help the people
of the county to stay safe. One of their vehicles towed a trailer
into the town that carried the Kitchen Fire Demonstration Unit
as part of their "Make Derbyshire Safer" project. Unfortunately
I was there between demonstrations and missed the fire and flames
but the charred interior of the trailer unit was a stark enough
warning of the dangers of kitchen fires. The essence of the Fire
Service's message came across on the balloons that were placed
around the unit - "Get Out, Call 999, Stay Out".
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
If our house be on fire, without inquiring whether it was
fired from within or without, we must try to extinguish it.
